We are very pleased to announce that our UK cloud hosting platform is now Powered by 100% renewable energy!
Did you know that the internet uses a lot of power? An individual website only uses a very small amount of energy over a year but with millions of websites online this all add's up... and the total energy used by the internet is staggering – 3.7% of global greenhouse gas emissions. That’s similar to the amount produced by the global airline industry!
That is why we have committed to using only 100% renewable energy at our cloud datacenters, with our green hosting – you can be assured that your websites are stored on servers that avoid contributing to climate change.
What makes our web hosting so "green"?
100% RENEWABLE ENERGY
We’ve partnered with renewable energy suppliers to ensure that our web hosting, cooling and network is powered by 100% renewable energy.
THE LATEST TECHNOLOGIES
As more efficient technology becomes available, we replace our hardware – but never at a cost to your sites’ performance. We provide the fastest hosting available, without harming the planet.
WORLD-CLASS EFFICIENCY
Our data centres excel in efficiency: with a PUE (power usage effectiveness) of 1.12. PUE describes how efficiently a data centre uses energy (the lower the better). Most hosts have a PUE of 1.2 or higher. We felt we could do better, so we have a PUE of 1.12. It’s an important figure to note when looking for green hosting.
AUTO-SCALING TECHNOLOGY
With our auto-scaling cloud technology more power is allocated to your website when it needs it – but this also works in reverse, when your website is no longer busy our auto-scaling reduces the amount of CPU, Memory and ultimately cooling – all this reduces the amount of energy needed to power your website.
As technology improves we will upgrade our hosting infrastructure to be more powerful, more robust and more energy efficient.
